Spanish Schools in Spain – the Most Affordable Way to Learn Spanish in Spain
If you learn Spanish in Spain at a Spanish language school there is an awesome benefit to US students – learning Spanish in Spain at a Spanish language school costs a fraction of the cost of study abroad programs in Spain that are organized by universities and study abroad companies. Here are just a couple of examples that illustrate how much money you can save if you learn Spanish at a language school in Spain:
Instead of Paying $5,000 for a month in Spain, you pay $1,000
How about $1,000 for a one-month Spanish course in Spain? For $1,000 (frequently, even less) you can pay the cost of both a Spanish course in Spain and your accommodation in a shared student apartment. You’ll have 20 Spanish classes per week and a total of 80 Spanish classes during the month long Spanish course. You’ll live in an apartment with other international students. (You can also opt for a Spanish home stay, but it is a more expensive option.)
While it’s not a free Spanish in Spain program, the cost of Spanish schools in Spain are very affordable relative to university sponsored study abroad programs and the study abroad programs offered by study abroad programs. Many universities and study abroad program providers charge students around $5,000 for a one month Spanish language program in Spain.
$5,000 For a Five Month Spanish Language Program
If you decide to learn Spanish at a Spanish language school in Spain, $5,000 is enough for 5 months of Spanish classes and accommodation in Spain. For the same amount of money you would spend on a one month Spanish program organized by a university or study abroad company, you could spend 5 months in Spain! And the benefits of long-term language study in Spain are many!
Now, the $5,000 covers the cost of your standard intensive Spanish course and accommodation in a shared student apartment. You would still need money for food, bus fare, pocket money, etc. So you will have to have some extra cash beyond the cost of your Spanish course and you housing.
If your budget for learning Spanish in Spain were $5,000, you could also opt to learn Spanish in Spain for 3 months – Cost: $3,000 for 3 months of Spanish classes and housing. You could use the remaining $2,000 for food, pocket money, etc.
There is an excellent advantage to the affordability of the Spanish schools in Spain – the less you pay for tuition and housing to learn Spanish, the more time you can learn Spanish in Spain (given a set budget). And the more time you spend living and learning Spanish in Spain, the better your Spanish will be. It’s not just your Spanish skills that will improve (see Learning Spanish in Spain – Long-Term Study in Spain), you will also gain a greater understanding of Spanish and European culture, as well as gaining cultural competency, all of which are assets.
$3,000 Instead of $10,000 – $16,000 — Semester in Spain
Learning Spanish at a Spanish school in Spain for a semester will save you $7,000 to $13,000.
If you are a US student, you will find that the tuition and housing costs to learn Spanish in Spain for a semester will cost you around $10,000 to $16,000. Whether you pay more or less depends on whether you study at a public or private university and/or the fees charged with the study abroad provider your school works with. Some universities even charge more than $25,000 for a semester abroad – leaving lots of room to save money learning Spanish abroad!
Now, if you are planning to spend an academic year in Spain to learn Spanish (a great idea!), you will save tons of money if you enroll at a Spanish school in Spain.
