Program Description

The year long Spanish Language, Culture and Civilization Course at the University Carlos III de Madrid is a 600 hour Spanish course in Madrid, Spain. The objectives of the course are to provide the student the communicative competencies in Spanish. The course complements communicative practice with social and cultural aspects like art, cinema, history, literature, lifestyles or cuisine, according to his/her level of Spanish.

Cultural activities are included in the program.

The fee covers full tuition for the academic year, cultural activities included in the program, learning materials, university card, comlementary activities in the resource centers, course diploma, and accident and emergency care insurance.

Housing – € 300 to € 475 ( $ 336.72 * to $ 533.14 * ) per month, shared student apartment.

Program Structure

The year long course consists of 600 class hours of Spanish and related classes.

The general content of the Spanish Language, Culture, and Civilization course includes Use of the Spanish language; Communicative Functions: oral comprehension and expression; Communicative Functions: written comprehension and expression; Spanish Society and Culture: Spanish for Specific Purposes: Academic, business, mass media; and Prepration for the DELE (Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language).

Classes are held from Monday through Friday in the mornings until the early afternoon.

Eligibility / How to Enroll

Open Enrollment.

There is no minimum required GPA. Recommendation letters are not required. The minimum age for enrollment is 18.



Applicants are required to send by e-mail the following documents:

• Copy of passport.
• CV.
• Copy of the last academic degree obtained (secondary school, graduate or postgraduate studies).
• A recent photograph of the applicant.
• Copy of a DELE certificate if available.

After receiving this documentation, the Language Center will provide the candidate with an on-line level test in order to determine his/her level of Spanish.

Once the pre-registration period has ended, the Language Center will contact candidates regarding pre-admission.



Pre-admitted students will have to complete the reservation by paying a €350 deposit by June 16th, 2017.

A proof of payment (copy of bank transfer or deposit receipt) must be sent for reservation to be considered complete.

Once the reservation process has been completed, the Language Center will send the student an admission letter (required for visa application).

Form of payment:
Payment of the reservation must be made by June 16th, 2017.

> Payment in installments:
• Payment of €1600 by September 10th, 2017.
• Payment of the remaining €1600 by February 1st, 2018.

> Payment in one installment*:
• Payment of €3000 by September 10th, 2017.

*A discount of €200 will be applied for students paying in one installment.
